About me

My name is Sian and I am a birth and post-natal doula based in north Herts. I live in Hitchin with my husband, three children and two stepchildren. I cover the Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire areas. I also offer birth and “fresh 48” photography and have a birth pool available to hire.

It is through my own journey into motherhood that I learned how empowering it is for a woman to be fully supported – emotionally, physically and with all the information available. Like many other doulas, I heard the call and knew that I wanted to support other women through pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period. I have always been a doula, I just didn't know it. I've "doulaed" several friends and family members over the years but I wanted to make it official, so in 2019 I started on a new path of learning.

I am a Developing Doulas graduate, having trained in April 2019 with the wonderful Maddie McMahon. I completed the Aromatherapy for Childbirth study day with aromatherapist Lindsay Woodman and NHS midwife Ruth Davis in May 2019. In October 2019 I attended the Motherwarming workshop with Nicola Goodall to learn more traditional postnatal techniques for nurturing new mothers . I have a thirst for knowledge and a passion for supporting women, and have no doubts that this list will continue to grow, so watch this space!

As your doula I will get to know you and your birth partner, if you have one, to find out what your hopes and expectations are. I will provide emotional, physical and practical support to you during pregnancy, labour and birth. I will support your choices about birth and draw on my knowledge and experience to make suggestions/find information to help you make informed decisions. My aims are for you to feel relaxed, to provide you with comfort, to protect your birth space and support your birth wishes. My services are individually tailored to meet the needs of each client so that you are able to birth your baby however you feel is best for you.

Pregnancy and childbirth is such an intimate and special time, so it is important that you find the right doula to support you. I invite you to get in touch so that we can arrange a chat to begin with and take things from there.
