About me

My name is Sian and I am a birth and post-natal doula based in north Herts. I live in Hitchin with my husband, three children and two stepchildren. I cover the Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire areas. I also offer birth and “fresh 48” photography and have a birth pool available to hire.

It is through my own journey into motherhood that I learned how empowering it is to be fully supported – emotionally, physically and with all the information available. Like many other doulas, I heard the call and knew that I wanted to support other women and birthing people through pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period. I have always been a doula, I just didn't know it. I've "doulaed" several friends and family members over the years but I wanted to make it official, so in 2019 I started on a new path of learning.

As your Doula I will get to know you and your birth partner, if you have one, to find out what your hopes and expectations are. You will benefit from my continuous emotional, physical and practical support during pregnancy, labour, birth and the early days of parenthood. You will be supported with your choices about birth and be able to draw on my knowledge and experience, providing you with suggestions and information to help you make informed decisions. My aims are for you to feel relaxed, to provide you with comfort, to protect your birth space, and support your birth wishes and parenting choices. With this in mind my services will be individually tailored to meet your needs, so that you are able to birth your baby however you feel is best for you.

I am a Developing Doulas graduate, having trained in April 2019 with the wonderful Maddie McMahon. I have also completed the Aromatherapy for Childbirth study day with aromatherapist Lindsay Woodman and NHS midwife Ruth Davis, attended the Motherwarming workshop with Nicola Goodall to learn more traditional postnatal techniques for nurturing new mothers, and trained in the 3-Step Rewind Technique with Ellie Cook and Hypnosis for Birthworkers with Tracy Sealey. I have a thirst for knowledge and a passion for supporting people, and have no doubts that this list will continue to grow as I continue to learn new skills to benefit you. I am insured and hold a current DBS check.

Pregnancy and childbirth is such an intimate and special time, so it is important that you find the right Doula to support you. There is a Doula out there for everyone, so I invite you to get in touch so that we can arrange a chat to begin with and take things from there. Sian x
